2. Indian Gooseberry (Amla) Juice:

Amla the richest natural source of vitamin C (463 mg./100gms), one fresh amla contains about than 80% water, protein (0.9%), fiber (3.4%), carbohydrates (6.9%), minerals (0.7%), fat (0.1%), vitamins like Calcium (34mg./100gms), Phosphorus, Iron (1.2%), Carotene and Vitamin B Complex (1%). It also is considered a powerful antioxidant fruit.
Amla juice contains nearly twenty times as much vitamin C as orange juice. There is a saying in Ayurved that regular use of Amla (2 to 3 a day) can a help live a long healthy life and hence is used as a main ingredient in Chyawanprash. It is also preserved in sugar syrup as Amla Candy.

Amla is beneficial for treating:

a) Skin Disorder: due to its cooling effect (sheet virya) it reduces pitta and thus helps in getting relief from all the skin disorders. Amla juice or powder with honey purifies blood.
Amla powder applied externally can help get rid on acne and pimples. It has anti ageing qualities and slows aging of the skin.

b) Hair Disorder: Amla strengthens roots of hair preventing hair fall and encouraging growth. It maintains the color delaying graying of the hair. Amla powder can help prevent dandruff if applied to scalp mixed with lemon juice.

c) Lower Immunity: Amla is rich in antibacterial qualities; it helps the body fight better against infection and also builds up your immunity, which makes you more resistant to diseases like chronic cough, cold, fever, tuberculosis and also asthma. It improves body resistance. Due to its strong, cooling and laxative properties Amla is useful for remedies for diarrhea and dysentery. The dried Amla fruit is astringent and useful in cases of diarrhea and dysentery.
Amla helps to get relief for gastric syndrome. It can also cure piles. Dried Amla is an excellent digestive, which can be consumed after meals.

d) Liver Disorder: Amla cures liver disorder as Amla juice is excellent liver tonic.

e) Heart Disorder: Amla strengthens heart muscles. It lowers cholesterol level, purifies blood and increases Hemoglobin by increasing red blood cell production.

f) Obesity: Amla also helps boost protein metabolism. As amla enhances metabolism, it helps you lose weight faster.

g) Diabetes: Amla stimulate the isolated group of cells that secrete the hormone insulin reducing the blood sugar level. Amla Juice can be taken with a pinch of turmeric twice a day before each meal to keeps cholesterol and blood sugar level low.

h) Eye Disorder: Amla juice with honey is good for improving eyesight. The application of a small quantity of Amla oil to the head before bathing removes diseases of the eyes, night blindness and bilious giddiness.

i) Neurological Disorder: Amla is good for Brain. Amla helps to improve memory. It provides nourishment to the nerves and is helpful in paralytic situation. A cupful milk without sugar and add pulp or powder or jam of Amla can be very refreshing especially for a tired person.

j) Other Disorders:
• Amla strengthens teeth and nails.
• Amla helps to reduce menstrual disorders. Keeps it regular.
• It also acts as anti-inflammatory agent thereby suppresses swelling and pain.
• Taking Amla powder with radish helps in checking stone in bladder by breaking the stones and throwing it out with urine.
• Amla supports the reproductive systems of both men and women and can help overcome difficulty in conceiving. Amla revitalizes the semen. It helps in improving quality of sperms.
