This post is inspired by a question asked by one of the readers. The question is very deep and I am not sure if my article will provide a satisfactory answer but I take my work very seriously and answering every question with all I got is an important part of my job.

  • Q. I am suffering with no. of health issues and also have family responsibilities , it is almost now more than 10 years i am suffering with chronic health diseases . I have tried every thing to come out from this poor condition . I have hold my nerves for last 10 years and i am living under extreme pain . i have read no. of self motivational , spiritual books , these books have help me a lot but for last 10 years finding myself in same situation break my patience . Do you have any advise ………….. plz. share
  • Everyone has to fight his/her own battles but when the pain gets unbearable we start looking out for answers. We spend a lot of time and money on physical solutions. Initially we seek help from modern medicines if we do not find relief we go towards alternative medicines. We talk about our pain with everyone we know and try to find out a healer who can finally put our problem to rest.

    We are wired in the modern day and age. We believe popping pills, taking injections or in extreme cases going under the surgeon’s knife can cure us but what to do when all these things we have so much faith in fail us. Some people get depressed and some get so frustrated with the situation that they become bitter with the world around.

    Some wise ones like my friend Raj here understands the importance of psychological and spiritual answers and so he mentioned that he read self help books not only for himself but also for his family. A person like this deserves all the help we can find. I hope my below mentioned points give you some relief and I request all the readers to share their own methods to overcome situations when one feels self help stuff does not help.

    7 Things To Do When One Feels Positive Thinking Does Not Work:

    1. Meditation: Start your day with meditation. First thing in the morning as soon as you get up sit in a quiet place close your eyes, clear your mind, breathe normally, and then slowly take deeper and longer breaths. Monitoring your breath is the easiest form of meditation. You can set a timer for 20 minutes or 30 minutes so that you don’t get distracted by checking time or the feeling of getting lost in the meditation. It will be easier to clear the mind right after sleep as it is refreshed but still if you feel any thoughts trying to seek in don’t struggle with it let it gently pass by and carry on with the meditation.

    You will feel refreshed and recharged; you mind will become powerful everyday with meditation and that is a very good thing because our mind plays the biggest role in our healing. There are many methods of mediation, you can study some on the net, some audio tapes comes with guided meditations or through books. Give most of them a try and stick with the one you find most relaxing and refreshing.

    You can also learn meditation from spiritual teachers like Brahma Kumaries, Buddhist Monks, teachers and many more just be sure you are following a genuine teacher and not some imposter.

    2. Energy Flow: Any kind of pain or suffering is caused because of negative energy blockage. Well this may seem farfetched but just think about it. Everything in this universe including us is made of energy and there is a constant flow of energy in everything. As per ancient Chinese wisdom this energy is called as “Chi” and if you have a smooth flow of positive energy (the good Chi) through your body you have a completely healthy body. If there is any blockage then this turns into pain. That’s why Acupuncture works great for pain. If you have not given this a try I suggest you find a good Acupuncture Therapist who can find the right solution.

    Similar principle is applied in Feng Shui. The house we live in is considered as an extension to our physical body, that’s why Ancient Eastern Cultures followed sciences like Vastu Shastra and Feng Shui. You can either get an expert to check your house for the positive energy flow or self study Feng Shui by reading books to remove the blockage of energy in your house. People find miraculous results by doing small changes so do give this a try.

    3. Negativity Filters: If you are not in the situation or position you want to be then there is some kind of negativity around you. Even if your thoughts are positive you can still get affected by negativity form another person close to you. Is there a complainer in your family? Is someone always talking and behaving in upsetting manner? Does someone gossip a lot about other people’s misfortune? Any such thing can bring down your positive energy and fill your mind with negativity that you do not need.

    Stay away from negative people, who always complain, fight, cry, or gossip; who has nothing good to talk about. If you cannot stay away try to change topics around this person or make that person aware of his/her negative mental condition in the most loving way. Do not blame or fight with this person as this will not make you any different. If you cannot do that then just send positive energy to this person in your mind and try not to get affected by this person’s talk or behavior.

    The reason to meditate in the morning is also very beneficial as we become stronger to handle such negativity and also never read or watch news in the morning as it will fill your day with negativity.

    4. Acceptance: We do not like to accept our suffering. The first rule to change is to accept your condition as it is. Do not feel good or bad about it. Just accept that I have this problem and then let it go. Remove it from your mind and think about you as a person who is happy and healthy in all aspects of life. By accepting you acknowledge the problem and by letting go you give a command to your subconscious mind that it does not have to hold onto this particular problem. It gives a clear command that we are ready to move ahead of this hurdle.

    5. Positive Attitude: Positive attitude is not just thinking that everything is great around us. Positive attitude is accepting all our hurdles and believing that as per the Divine Plan there must be a reason I have this hurdle in my life. This condition is in my life for a reason to give me a life’s lesson that I desperately need to learn and this is an opportunity in disguise. Once we overcome the hurdle we become stronger and wiser than before.

    6. Gratitude: It is difficult to feel thankful when we are in pain but there can be so many things that we can be grateful for no matter what situation. We can be grateful for our body to stand strong through all the suffering and pain it has to go through daily. We can be thankful for the people who love us and want to help us in our difficult times. We want to be grateful for every new day when we get up as each day is a gift to us from the creator. Be grateful for what you love having and take away all your focus from what you don’t.

    7. Visualization: Visualize yourself as healthy and happy. While meditating or any other time instead of focusing on the problem we should visualize a happy and fulfilled life as this creates a blueprint for our subconscious mind. When we think, dream, talk and visualize about health we get healthy. I highly recommend reading books from Shakti Gawain or Wayne Dyer to study this concept in detail.

The deep rooted beliefs and habits in the subconscious mind shape our life, our identity and our future.     Now with so much discussion on the mind let’s try to answer some questions. Have you ever tried to do something desperately but somehow could not do it? Do you find your brain caught in an ongoing tug o’ war? Do you find your conscious mind also known as logical mind struggling to get the unconscious mind on board about something? Why does this happen? If you are like me you must have wondered why we cannot come with a reset button where we can eliminate the blockages in our mind.

    These are all examples of trance like states, and they are all organic and natural. Hypnosis simply puts you into one of these mild “trance” states purposefully, and gradually, as you keep getting exposed to the hypnotic suggestions of the hypnotist, your patterns of thinking and self beliefs will start to change.

    Far from being asleep or unaware, hypnosis is actually a heightened state where you are both deeply relaxed yet have a heightened level of suggestibility as well as a centered awareness.

    Since I uploaded “Movies – Making Creative Visualization Fun” post I got many queries about how I made my own mind movie; so I am making a detail post about the easy method I use to make my movie.     In most of my posts like Mind it, Creative Visualization – Why I do it?, Goal Setting & Achievement – Raising Standards or Imagination – Our Inner Power; I have always highlighted the power of our mind. How our mind needs to focus on our visions or desires to achieve it and how by visualizing our desires it becomes easier to locate opportunities that were not clearly visible earlier.

    We can help our mind to focus on our desires by repeating positive affirmations that highlight our goals. We all know a picture is worth a thousand words so we can make a beautiful collage of photos that show our desires and hang it somewhere we can see many times a day; this is called a vision board. You can make a digital version of it and make it your screensaver.

    If you love daydreaming then visualization will not be a challenge for you. It will not matter if you use written affirmations or a vision board. Now what if you get distracted with negative thoughts while you try to visualize or it does not come that easily to you or you just got a bit bored of it and would love to try something new. Making a movie about your desires can be the easiest way to visualize you goals.

    A movie can be a series of fast moving still pictures that you used for your vision board or you can actually record yourself talking about your goals and desires like you are talking to a friend or giving an interview. To make it more interesting you can hold one of the vision board pictures in front of the camera while talking about your desires. Add your favorite motivational song and you got yourself the best movie you will ever see in your life.

    Tips to remember while making a movie:

    1. The movie should be interesting, cheerful, positive and enthusiastic. Its motive is to encourage you.

    2. Keep it short so you can watch it every morning and night before and after bed.

    3. Keep it on your smart phone. You can enjoy it while commuting.

    4. Keep it very specific to your real goals and desire. Remember you are making this for you and no one else, so don’t put stuff on it just to make it look good. Everything on that movie should mean something to you. Be honest about your desires or the whole exercise will be a waste of time.

    Law of The Karmic Account – Dealing With A Difficult Relationship

    In my last post “Karma Keeps An Account?” I discussed how it is not right to blame Karma for any misfortune in our life and by taking care of our thoughts, words and deeds we can change our Karma to positive. I also mentioned about Karmic account. Now let’s see how this account affects us and how to settle this for good.

    The Karmic account keeps a record of the positive and negative exchange of energy between two souls. If you know someone who is in a difficult relationship (personal or professional) and for some reason cannot escape it, a little knowledge of Law of Karma can come to the rescue.

    Here I want to make it clear that I am not trying to solve or discuss about domestic violence or serious mental trauma situations. In such cases I insist to take proper professional help.

    I do believe in the famous quote by Eleanor Roosevelt; “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”

    We have a special way to cope with the unpleasant relationships. We either;

    1. Absorb the negative energy;

    2. Withdraw self from the situation, or

    3. Reflect back the negative energy,

    All of the above mentioned three methods are unhealthy and it increases the bitterness in the relationship.

    If we study the Law of Karma we understand a fourth method to transform the negative energy into positive and improve the relationship.

    4. Transform negative energy to positive:

    This may sound like a dream but it is possible and can be done with a lot of understanding and patience.

    • When you face anything negative like blame or criticism and you know you are right on your part then keep calm and remind yourself that you are a powerful soul, a pure being, keep your cool

    • The other person may not see your point or appreciate you now but will do so in time and even if that does not happen you are fine with it because you are at peace with yourself

    • Never dwell upon hurtful remarks this only increases the pain. Instruct your mind to be calm.

    • Detach yourself from the situation and study the reason for the dispute. It gets far clear when you see from a distance than being emotionally attached

    • When you forgive and forget you reduce your own pain so take the high road whenever possible

    • One needs a strong and powerful mind to stay calm in such situations or to forgive so meditation can be your best tool. Meditate daily and while or after meditation visualize being in a happy and loving relationship just as you desire

    • Generate thoughts of love and peace for the person you want to improve your relationship with. If you send energy of love and peace you will get the same energy in return but as I mentioned earlier you will need a lot of patience

    This is a lot of work, if you want to save the relationship it will all be worth it. On the other hand if you think you are done with the pain and cannot take it anymore. Then you will have to take a very serious, difficult and maybe permanent decision of moving on from that painful relationship and visualize yourself in a new loving relationship.

    One of the greatest minds in the history of mankind Albert Einstein believed in the “Power of Imagination.” His famous quotes about Imagination makes it clear how much importance he gave to this gift we take for granted. I believe if a genius wants to tell us something about our mind then we should take note as surely he figured out some secrets about life.

    If you are serious about using Creative Visualization to achieve your desires then you should learn how to imagine in a way that you can see yourself after your desires are fulfilled. I try to make this as much as fun as possible. It is like watching a fun movie which has all the things I love and I am the star in it. It is so much entertaining and plus while I do this I get loads of inspiration that I use in my writing.

    As per Einstein “Your imagination is your preview of life’s coming attractions.” I completely agree with this not just because I like to imagine but also because then I know what I want to do in my life or what my future will look like. As I am getting serious about writing as a fulltime career option I guess Imagination is the tool that I need to keep sharpest, I believe that’s where great stories come from.

    I am extremely fascinated with the power of our mind.
