Wake up to a Gold Morning with this Simple Morning Mantra

Today morning I was pleasantly surprised when I received a beautiful gift from Colgate (#Colgate360GoldMornings). The gift’s packaging reminded me how wonderful a morning can be. I consider myself a positive person but just like everyone else, I too sometimes get overwhelmed with the challenges of the daily grind.

My husband works long hours and it gets frustrating for us as many times we have to compromise on our sleep and today was one of those days. The alarm went off and I dragged myself out of the bed with a heavy head. I was feeling a grumpy, as I was busy with my morning chores the doorbell rang. I opened the door with almost a grunt and was surprised with a package. Coalgate scheduled the delivery before 7am and I got mine in time.

Before even opening the package, I could sense a big change in my mood. I felt happy to be surprised in such a nice way and when I opened the package, I was impressed with how beautiful and uplifting the contents and design on the packaging was.

Colgate Gold Morning

My mood this morning turned from grumpy to inspired after reading the first sentence on the Colgate box; “It’s time to wake up to a Gold Morning!” I am grateful to Colgate (#Colgate360GoldMornings) to remind me how important it is to start the morning on a positive note. Every morning we are given a chance to start anew. Everything that is important to us gets a fresh opportunity with the start of a new day.

I completely agree with these motivational words of Og Mandino; “Welcome every morning with a smile. Look on the new day as another special gift from your Creator, another golden opportunity to complete what you were unable to finish yesterday. Be a self-starter. Let your first hour set the theme of success and positive action that is certain to echo through your entire day. Today will never happen again. Don’t waste it with a false start or no start at all. You were not born to fail.”

My Morning Mantra is simple it is just two words – “Thank You”. I have a ritual of saying “Thank You!” the moment I wake up. Almost every day I wake up feeling grateful for my life. Some rare days like today I forget to say my mantra but I do get to it later in the day. I thank the creator for another day, another opportunity and another chance to try to fulfill my dreams.

I fill my day with optimism by being grateful for everything that has made my life. You know what makes my good mornings turn to Gold, it is a simple but very powerful practice of counting my blessings and being grateful for them.

Clarity is the First Step towards Success

Since my last post – Is there a Formula for Failure? Lesson from Dr. Wayne Dyer’s ‘Your Sacred Self’ I felt like I told half of a story. In that, post we discussed how to avoid failures and the next question that popped up my mind was “Is there a formula for success?”

Clarity is the First Step towards Success

Clarity is the First Step towards Success

I have read a lot of material on success and goal setting. From all the great books I read I learned that there is not a single path to success. Successful people find or if required build their own road to achieve their dreams. Well I don’t have a formula for success (yet) but I do know one thing for sure that is the First Step towards Success is Clarity.

“The successful warrior is the average man, with laser-like focus.” -Bruce Lee

We think about our present status and all the current hurdles which dilutes our focus and as a results we lack clarity. Just as the Sun’s brightness gets covered with clouds we lose sight of our goals when temporary problems cross our way or worse we start giving more importance to these problems then our goals.

I agree it is hard to stay enthusiastic about our goals when life throws unexpected difficulties. In such conditions the only question that matters is “How serious are you about your goals?”

“It’s a lack of clarity that creates chaos and frustration. Those emotions are poison to any living goal.” — Steve Maraboli

Create in your mind such a precise picture about your successful life that you feel you have already achieved it. Let the vision pull you towards the beautiful life you want. Make your mind habitual towards the successful life you are striving for. Give your subconscious mind a glimpse of what you want so it can start working with you to achieve the dream life.

“We would do well to remember that the success of any struggle depends on the determination of its leaders and the clarity of its purpose, not the doubts of naysayers.” — Saree Makdisi

Most of the time we lose sight of our goals is when we think about other opinions over our inner voice. Many dreams are scarified because people are too concerned about disappointing others. It is sad that people would rather be where they are for the rest of their life then take risks. Getting mocked is people’s biggest fear and I think that’s what differentiates successful people from unsuccessful ones.

One cannot achieve success without stepping out of the comfort zone even if there is a risk of failing or getting mocked by others. We need to clear our thoughts about our own goal and not confuse with what others expect us to do or be.

“People who lack the clarity, courage, or determination to follow their own dreams will often find ways to discourage yours. When you change for the better, the people around you will be inspired to change also….but only after doing their best to make you stop. Live your truth and don’t EVER stop.” — Steve Maraboli

Before you start working on any of your goals you need to ask questions like:

. What exactly do I want?

. Where do I want to reach?

. What am I ready to give or do to reach this goal?

. Where do I see myself in the future?

If you have a clear goal then and only then you can start your journey on the path of success. It is simple (I do not mean easy) to achieve even the toughest goal if you have a clear picture about what exactly you want. Without clarity we make things complicated and delay our success.

Is there a Formula for Failure? Lesson from Dr. Wayne Dyer’s “Your Sacred Self”

“You’ll seldom experience regret for anything that you’ve done. It is what you haven’t done that will torment you. The message, therefore, is clear. Do it! Develop an appreciation for the present moment. Seize every second of your life and savor it.” — Wayne W. Dyer

Is there a Formula for Failure? Lesson from Dr. Wayne Dyer’s “Your Sacred Self”

Is there a Formula for Failure? Lesson from Dr. Wayne Dyer’s “Your Sacred Self”

Dr. Wayne Dyer also known as “father of motivation” by his fans has written more than 40 books in the field of self–development. I am currently reading his “Your Sacred Self” and right in the start of this wonderful book a formula for failure jumped out at me. I would love to share this with you.

“You get treated in life the way you teach people to treat you.” — Wayne W. Dyer

As per Dr. Wayne Dyer there is not one single formula for success. Every successful person finds his /her own path to achieve the desired results. But when it comes to failure he does mention a formula which all of us should be aware of so that we can make sure we are not on the path of failure.

“Formula for Failure: Trying to please everyone and ignoring our inner impulse.”

Don’t we fall into the rut to make everyone around us happy? Even when our inner voice the intelligence that has baffled science for centuries tells us to let go or do something which will actually add value to your life or will put us a step closer to our desire.

Why are we so eager to be people pleasers? Why the opinion of others is more important than our inner impulse? Do you feel the same? Do you silent your inner impulse just because you think you will not get others approval?

“I would rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I’m not.” — Wayne W. Dyer

Think about it. The creator has made us different. Every individual is unique. Even identical twins have a different personality, different dreams and of course a different destiny. So there is really no point in trying to fit in a perfection mold.

Our inner impulse always leads us towards fulfilling our destiny or towards our calling. We need to make our mind quite to listen to this voice so remove the noise of others. Try to give less importance to what others say or think and try to listen to your inner voice.

It is almost impossible to make everyone happy. It makes more sense to find a path that takes you to your dreams while serving others. Not the other way around.

“Enjoying life is far superior to being graded on your performance in life.” — Wayne W. Dyer

7 Life Lessons from Mr. Kishor Kharat (MD & CEO of IDBI Bank) for a Successful Life (#made of great)

Tata Motors came up with a great campaign to inspire millions by honouring those who are #madeofgreat. I consider myself blessed to meet inspiring people all the time. I believe there is something within all of us that makes us unique.

When I thought of someone, I know and is made of great – the first person that popped in my mind is my Uncle (Kaka as I call him) Mr. Kishor Kharat (MD & CEO of IDBI Bank) who is undeniably made of great and also the motivating example of greatness and excellence driven by self-belief.

My uncle Kishor Piraji Kharat has assumed charge as MD & CEO of IDBI Bank with effect from August 14, 2015. He was earlier posted as executive director of Union Bank of India. He is a graduate in commerce and law, and is a certified associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers. He also holds an Executive Diploma in Management. Before Union Bank of India he had served Bank of Baroda for three decades. He has dealt with various verticals of banking including credit, international business, information technology and general administration both in India as well as overseas.

When someone we know forever, a family member starts making waves and influence many you cannot help but be proud. Proud was the exact feeling I felt when I interacted with a stranger recently in an event. She saw my full name on my tag and started taking with me. The first question she asked me was, “Are you related to Mr. Kishor Kharat?” I nodded yes and got into a long talk about how we learn from role models who lead by example. My uncle has guided me on many occasions I have always looked up to him especially when I was choosing my specialization for college and when got my first job in a private bank. I have always found his drive to achieve big dreams admirable.

The #madeofgreat campaign of Tata Motors builds upon their DNA of trust, authenticity, reliability, simplicity, as well as its commitment to innovation. These are the qualities that make winners like their Global Brand Ambassador – Lionel Messi who perfectly fits the role as he is trustworthy, reliable, pioneering, simple and driven by self-belief.madeofgreat

A great and strong character is something that one can find common in all great people. I think it is my Uncle’s strong mind and willpower to achieve greatness is what drives him. The way my uncle has strived for his success and position has taught me some important life lessons. My uncle who comes from a humble background started at a low position in the banking industry but his thirst for education and excellence that took him to the great heights.

7 Life Lessons from Mr. Kishor Kharat for a Successful Life:

1. Ambition: A person should always be ambitious in life. Where you come from? What your background is? These questions are irrelevant. One must do whatever one can from wherever s/he is. If one dreams big and works hard, s/he can reach greatness.

2. Humbleness: Even after achieving great success my uncle has not forgotten his roots. The village that he grew in celebrated his success and my uncle took time out from his busy schedule to be a part of the celebration. He talked about his childhood and people that have made impact on his life. He mentioned how important was the influence of his mother (my grandmother) on his life and talk about his teachers from the village.

3. Self-Confident: Anyone who is someone has achieved it because of self-confidence. My uncle has set an example for many that confidence can take you to great heights. One must keep educating self in relevant skills to live a confident life.

4. Hard Work: A person no matter how intelligent or talented cannot become successful without hard work. My uncle has proven that when one shows commitment to work they do get appreciated for the hard work.

5. Positive Attitude: To live a positive life one must have a positive mind and attitude towards everything. Every difficulty should be taken as an opportunity to grow. My uncle has overcome many challenges in his life to reach a successful position. It is his positive attitude that kept him going despite many obstacles.

6. Vision: Seeing the big picture, visualizing your goals before achieving them are important qualities of successful people like my uncle. To grow one must be a visionary. My uncle believes in the motto – Dream big and try to achieve it.

7. Work–Life Balance: Besides being, a Top Banker my uncle is a caring husband and father of two sons. He has tried to balance his demanding hours at work and his time at home. My Aunt (also a banker) has been a pillar of support in his career. From my uncle and aunt I take the lesson of being supportive, loving and caring towards my spouse’s career. The couple is a perfect role model for everyone trying to balance work and life.
